Should those who promoted the shameful "surge in child hospitalizations" story face legal liability?
As one Twitter commenter noted, it's like shouting "fire" in a crowded movie theater
I knew right away the story smelled of fear-mongering propaganda, in service of scaring parents into getting their kids “vaccinated” for COVID 19. No hard numbers, just heartstring-pulling quotes from doctors and other “authorities.”
For example, from the same article:
Going to the linked source will get you one hard number, and it’s fairly small (30 hospital admissions in NYC aged 12-17), and those are “hospitalizations associated with COVID-19,” whatever that means. For all we know, it could be kids suffering from adverse affects of having been vaccinated, who also contracted Omicron, which easily bypasses them.
But instead of digging deeper, the mainstream outlets just propagated, even amplified, the story, using it to scare parents into getting their kids vaccinated.
Thankfully Hot Air published this story today, debunking the whole thing. They quote Dr. Paul Offit, vaccine expert at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, who said, “We test anybody who’s admitted to the hospital for whatever reason to see whether or not they have Covid, and we’re definitely seeing an increase in cases. However, we’re really not seeing an increase in children who are hospitalized for Covid or in the intensive care unit for Covid.”
But of course, Hot Air doesn’t get nearly the circulation that the original stories got— even Apple News was pushing it—and some parents may have already taken their kids to get vaccinated as a result of reading the coverage. And so, as is often the case with misinformation, the damage may already have been done.
As one Twitter commenter noted, what these media outlets have done is the equivalent of shouting “fire” in a crowded theater. So shouldn’t they be held liable for their part in spreading information, which they intended to persuade parents to get their kids vaccinated, in the event those kids end up vaccine-injured?
If not legally liable, they are at least morally culpable.
I preface this comment with the thought that I may be wrong in my analysis of the situation.
Assuming I am not....
There is so much in the last couple years that 'seems' obviously illegal. Maybe I am wrong and don't understand the complexity; however, It doesn't seem like a Supreme Court justice is needed to understand our Constitution has been usurped. Individuals, like myself, seem completely powerless as we lack connections, money, and knowledge to fight back.
I believe anyone from a position of authority that coerces anyone to do something they don't want to do OR uses the position of authority to knowingly trick someone to do something the normally would not want to do should be legally charged and swiftly jailed (not fined) for their actions.
Until there is swift and real punishment for those involved in such things will not change.
No not because I am mean or have no care or empathy but because it is not my responsibility. I’m sorry but that’s socialized medicine in my opinion how can I be responsible for someone else whether they are a child or adult just because I am sympathetic and empathetic? Of course I have care and compassion for all children that does not make me responsible in the eyes of God even we are our fellow man’s protector we are not their provider. I have been taught that we are our brothers keeper however we are not our brothers provider. Responsibility starts at home being complicit being self-serving and being Aware of evil is not the same thing. Just one man’s opinion
