I discovered Twitter Spaces this last weekend, and I happened to be sitting in on the impromptu and extensive Q & A Musk did in a Space attended by about 100,000 people. As a social media policy professional, I found a number of things interesting—for example, Musk’s point about honoring the requests of advertisers that their ads not be juxtaposed with “hate speech”.
But, as someone who has been fighting to offer a free speech social media platform (Parler) for 2-1/2 years, I found a point I discuss in this thread to be the most crucial:
A few years ago, I would never have predicted that Elon Musk would step in as top cover for the free speech movement. But here we are, and he seems earnest. Whatever else you want to say about the era we live in: it’s not boring! :)
Do you plan to start doing shows again on Rumble?
The fact there has to be a free speech movement at all in America boggles the mind
